Wow, two talks from Netflix at a recent React Conference (one "lightning talk" for about 5 minutes and one full-time talk) are surprisingly bad. I guess I’m spoilt by their senior engineers talking about Rx.js.

On the plus side, a talk by an engineer at Pinterest about how they are transitioning from Django to server-side-rendered React is really interesting, and reminds me of a codebase I once worked with. There, too, the server was written in python/django, and the client was replicating part of the logic already written in the django templates (but inaccessible to the client, because the templating languages on the client and on the server were different). Fun times!
