If you say octopuses, you can continue to do so without fearing you are an ignorant slob. If you say octopi, you can continue to do so, but realise you have no grounds to tell people who say octopuses that they are ignorant slobs.

Это прямо мой девиз лингвистического пофигизма (иначе говоря, толерантности), который я обожаю у мерриамовцев.
