Вот в такой книжке, в главе, написанной немцем Уве Хайнеманом, встречается такой отрывок:

У меня, в другом тексте, также написанном немцами, — сходная ситуация.

Я правильно понимаю, что для нормального английского такое значение совершенно невозможно и притащено откуда-нибудь из немецкого (которого не знаю) вместо in principle?

Если да, то черт подери этих немцев!
