(no subject)

A native Spanish-speaking teacher instructing (in a very clean English) her students on the phonetics of the English language, specifically the way an English speaker would pronounce initial plosive consonants /p/, /b/, /g/, /k/ (by the way, I was sure she was saying peaches until I paid closer attention to the name of the file), as contrasted to the phonetics of English produced by a Spanish speaker.

Watching this gave me a pang of anger at our English department in the university, where we could have studies something real, and tangible, and fascinating like this, instead of the crap we wasted our time on.
