(no subject)

How do people who are concerned about the "negative connotations for people with mental illnesses" express the notion of something being so utterly bizarre — in a bad sort of way — that it could only be a product of an unusual — again, in a bad sort of way — mind?

Nuts and bananas don't work. Crazy is obviously out of the question. Insane, demented, retarded, idiotic, moronic and mental as well, I suppose. I wonder if stupid and dumb are still allowed. Or bonkers. What's left? Twisted? Peculiar?

The whole idea that negative connotations with mental illnesses are bad seems... well... peculiar to me.
