In one of the DarkHorse episodes last summer, back when Bret and Heather still used to comment on the changing life in Portland, Heather remarked on the melody of the "black lives matter" chant, which I hadn't heard by then. I cannot quite remember the words she used to describe it — monotonous, sad, depressing, numbing, stupefying, primitive — probably none of those, but this was the gist. When I heard the chant later, I knew what she was talking about.

It was amusing, then, to hear that the "fuck joe biden" chant uses exactly the same melodious pattern. Four syllables — higher pitch, lower pitch, higher pitch, lower pitch — of the same duration.. Then pause. Then repeat. I wonder if this is just a natural pattern for all four-syllable trochaic slogans.
