An interesting historical artifact — one of the first talks about web components — the motivation, the dream of encapsulating the ugly DOM guts and the simple CSS inside a simple markup — given by Alex Russel in 2011. IE 8 and IE 9 were still around. Javascript was still in its pre-ES6 days (gosh, I almost forgot how to write js classes in the pre-class syntax). JQuery was still king. Chrome was already evergreen.

Also, it sounds like the audience was a bit more professional, a bit more mature than is normally the case with most of today's conferences. Or maybe it's just Alex's style. He does say "fucked" though. Once.
