Something I haven't heard for a while, but have recently started noticing on Twitter.

I thought it was an old meaning, but Merriam-Webster does not list it among the definitions of cricket. It does, however, have a dedicated "words we are watching" page for it, from which I learnt that this meaning has originated as a metonymy for a quiet summer night, where only the chirping of crickets breaks the silence.
