It's extremely petty of course, but how do you "set up" someone who initiates a visit to a hair salon. She wasn't, presumably, approached by the salon owners and invited to visit; she must have sought out the salon herself (or, which is more likely, through her underlings). That alone deserves contempt.

Also, the vanity of those people — hers or that Chicago mayor's. Their belief that if they have their hair done properly, it would somehow improve their chances in public.
