September 11, 2018 — Jupiter Broadcasting announced that it was getting acquired by the Linux Academy (coincidence regarding the timing of the above? i think not. i suppose Linux Academy would have nothing to do with a political show which was in the center at best and maybe careening over to the right; it might have been too inflammatory for Linux Academy's customer base. pure speculation on my part of course)
December 19, 2019 — the word goes around that A Cloud Guru acquires Linux Academy. That was quite unexpected. Linux Academy was a well-established player, while A Cloud Guru was a rookie. I remember learning about A Cloud Guru when searching for Nigel Poulton's course on Kubernetes. I had an impression then that this was a tiny company with a couple of good courses. Apparently not so tiny anymore.
Along with other Linus Academy assets, A Cloud Guru was handed Jupiter Broadcasting.
March 2020 — Chris Fisher resumes the Unfilter show, but does so from a laptop while travelling around in his RV. Apparently, the show could no longer be associated with Jupiter Broadcasting.
August 25, 2020 — Chris announces that Jupiter Broadcasting gets separated from A Cloud Guru.
August 27, 2020 — in a newly released Unfilter episode, Chris says he is recording it in the JB studio, which is much more comfortable than recording in an RV.
I wonder if he will move Unfilter back to JB. Probably not. But it'll be fun to watch.
Another thing that struck me as amusing is how both Chris and Bryan Lunduke, the hosts of the Linux Action Show, both from Seattle (although I believe Bryan is in Portland now), have gravitated away from the political left. I thought Chris was the more political of the two; but now that I look at Bryan’s Twitter feed, I think Bryan may have become even more bitter about the Democrats than Chris.
