An old story that I haven't read before resurfaced on Hacker News — the story of a 500-miles email (back from the 90s). It's super fun. There's also an FAQ by the author, where he explains how he took some poetic license when writing that story.

He also admits now that he was not only the detective, but also the culprit in the original story.
