A good conversation with James Lindsay. He and Helen Pluckrose are preparing a book Cynical Theories (due in May 2020), presumably about the history and substance of critical theories, and this conversation is mostly about that.

He still is puzzled by how that movement gained so much traction in the American academia (he says it was on the fringe in France), and why it spread so spectacularly from the academia into the wild, but perhaps these are not proper scholarly questions.
