Yesterday’s news on the BBC (from a Guardian reporter, I believe?) — Johnson doesn’t want to look at the photo of a four-year-old with pneumonia in a hospital where he isn’t even placed in a ward.

What I don’t understand about this kind of news is — what exactly do they want the prime minister to do? Do they want a Putin-like system where the ruler directly and divinely interferes and (ostensibly) rights the wrongs? The prime minister said that he recognizes the problem of the NHS and is going to increase spending on it; what else is he supposed to do? Sure, he can affect shock and sorrow; or he can remain detached and unperturbed, but why the fuck should anyone care? The media think people should...
