In 2009, there was a big scandal when The Telegraph published an article about excessive expenses of British MPs. One of the prime exhibits was a £1600 duck house in one MP’s garden:

In 2016, Navalny, to the excitement and fury of his audience, reported a duck house at Medvedev’s mansion.

If that doesn’t demonstrate the derivative nature of the Russian culture, I don’t know what does :-)
