Youtube suggested to me a video by Sargon of Accad, an apparently scandalous vlogger of whom I learned only a couple of days ago from a BBC program. It is, however, an interesting video. In it Sargon describes how he was banned from Patreon for a racial slur he used in a Youtube video that had no relation to Patreon and was not even on his Youtube channel. Which is an interesting case of how someone’s misbehavior elsewhere can be used as a grounds for discontinuing a service.



This incident sent strong reverberations through the community of youtubers. For instance, Dave Rubin and Jordan Peterson recorded an episode where they promised to leave Patreon:



It's a good opportunity for services that do not have strict codes of conduct. It’s a pity cryptocurrency is nowhere ready to be used as an alternative to PayPal or Stripe.
