A word heard over the radio brought back a memory from my childhood of a passage from The Three Musketeers that sounded then as a riddle:

- Ваше имя? - спросил комиссар.
- Атос, - ответил мушкетер.
- Но ведь это не человеческое имя, это название какой-нибудь горы! -
воскликнул несчастный комиссар, начинавший терять голову.
- Это мое имя, - спокойно сказал Атос.

I don't know French, but Athos must be a reference to mount Athos, immediately apparent to the reader of the original, but completely lost in the Russian translation. Also какой-нибудь in "название какой-нибудь горы", although not a part of the riddle that I remembered, makes it even more enigmatic.
