BBC is re-running the original radio recordings of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I was expecting something sublime and even better than the book, but after listening to several episodes, all I can say is — meh. The gags are rather sparse; sound effects for character voices are hit or miss, the plot is inconsistent. Hard to imagine how it developed such a strong following.

P.S. Actually, I think I'll take it back. The Secondary Phase is quite enjoyable.
P.P.S.: And then there is the second episode of the secondary phase, which is horrible. Dang it!
