Fry and Pinker went on an interesting tangent in their conversation (which was otherwise mostly about Pinker’s book); namely, on the topic of political correctness and censorship. It turns out Pinker took part in a panel at Harvard debating the proposition "Is Political Correctness Why Trump Won?" (which was immediately followed by attack against him in the media). His reasoning that when students come across certain empirical facts which, they quickly learn, are unmentionable and undiscussable in a liberally leaning campus environment, it turns them away from the left, is intriguing.
